EMA was formed to help the village arrange its celebrations for the new millennium in 2000 but has

continued since then to provide social activities for the village generally.

It's major event is the village fete which takes place on the Green each year in September which has always been a great success. It also organises an annual Christmas party for the Children, a scarecrow competition which has now become a contest between Elwick and Castle Eden and other social events such as trips away.
