St. Peter’s Church, which dates back many hundreds of years, is a small,  friendly,  family orientated church situated on the outskirts of the village, just off the southern exit of the A19.

It is part of the Diocese of Durham and is closely associated with The Parish Church of St. Mary Magdalene in the neighbouring village of Hart. Both churches share the same Vicar.The church plays an active part of the life of the community and works closely with St. Peters Elwick Church of England (VA) Primary School.

The Church has a range of worship suitable for old and young alike, and an informal creche area is available during services where children may play under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
